ITESUS
Sinaloa Higher Institute of Technology

The history of ITESUS in Mazatlan goes back to 1989 when the courses were taught in a bedroom fitted out as a classroom, training in the computing area. The predecessor of ITESUS, Computational Institute of Programming and Analysis (ICOPA), opened its door in August 1989, offering a two-year Programmer Technical Degree and computerized applications diplomas like LOTUS, WORKS, PC WRITE, and MS-DOS.

The Executive Secretary in Spanish with a knowledge of Computer Systems career was incorporated in 1992. ICOPA offered many training courses to public and private enterprises from its foundation until its end in 1994. Sinaloa Higher Institute of Technology (ITESUS) emerged in 1994. It was created by Dr. Gerardo López del Rio, to offer a university for the youth with scarce economic resources, who were rejected from public universities with his motto: "No youth stays out without the opportunity to study a carreer."

ITESUS began classes in 1994 with 16 students in BA in Administrative Computer Science, along with 80 technical studies students, and professors who were willing to teach them. ITESUS struggled without all the inconveniences, starting in a building where the main principal office was in the living room, the classrooms in the bedrooms, and some technical problems. Even these difficulties never stopped his principal from offering more careers. Nowadays, we offer more than 20 careers. In addition, the university offers some postgraduate degrees and high school studies.

All this growth and the various educational offerings, combined with the academic excellence with which ITESUS has worked since its foundation, today we are one of the favorite private institutions in Mazatlan.
